Toddler Hats

Article by Jack E Watson

Newborn babies find the outside environment chilly compared to the moist and warm environment in the womb. This is one of the main reasons why midwives and nurses immediately cover the newborns head with a baby hat or cap. The newborn hats prevents heat loss, thereby keeping the baby’s head warm just the way the baby was used to, in the mother’s womb. Keeping your baby’s head warm with a baby hat during winter or fall is also very important, because a newborn baby is not capable of regulating his/her body temperature well until about six months. Various Categories of Newborn Hats: A baby cap is extremely essential apparel for babies, infants and toddlers. It becomes even more important if you are taking your child outside your home. There are large varieties of baby caps depending upon the season, material, purpose, gender and age. They are broadly categorized into • Newborn hats• Baby hat, girls• Baby hat, boys• Neutral baby hatsUnder the above categories, you can pick and choose various styles such as sun caps, winter caps, bucket hats, cargo caps, safari hats, straw hats, ruffle hats, decorated and trimmed hats with bows, ribbons, etc, and in various materials such as cotton, fleece, silk, organic, wool, knitted, crocheted, woven, etc.

Best Place to Buy a Baby Hat:

Whether it is food, clothes or toys, you want to give the best care to your baby. You may not have enough time, or the ability to go around shopping for your unborn baby during your pregnancy. Also, if you are not aware of the gender of your baby, then it may not be very purposeful to buy loads of neutral gender baby apparels. Buying gender related baby clothing after delivery is more satisfying since you will have all the joy of picking up the right clothes, designs and colors. However, you will have more to do than just go around shopping once your baby arrives. Therefore, the best solution is to shop online for variety of baby apparels including newborn hats. From the convenience of your home you can shop at a reputed online baby store that offers everything that you want for your newborn baby.

Tips for Buying Newborn Hats Online:

• Consider the season during the birth of your newborn and also the seasons to come.• Buy newborn caps in two sizes; actual and one size large.• Buy in different materials such as fleece if you are taking your baby outdoors or if your house is cold. Cotton caps for indoors.• Buy a baby hat that can be secured safely.• Avoid large metal buttons or other fasteners.• Make sure that your baby can be comfortable sleeping even with the hat on.

Question by Mom of E and S and 38 weeks with # 3: Where can I find a sun hat for my toddler boy?
Ethan is 3 and has a pretty big head! I’ve looked at all my local stores for a sun hat-the kind of hat that had a brim all around it- but can’t find one big enough. I’ve looked in the little boy section, but all I can find is baseball type hats…..

have you seen these somewhere? Thanks!

Question by Lala: toddler shoes, hats, and blankets help!?
I’ve decided to finally get around to asking a few questions about some minor problems I’ve been having with my 15month old daughter.

Shoes: She’s walking, running, running away and very active. She wears a size 4 shoe and they fit with some room, and even with socks. But over half the time I can’t get her heel down to the bottom. Her feet aren’t particularly wide or chubby… but especially with her high top sneakers and her boots… the heel gets stuck halfway down and there’s tonnnnes of room in the toe. Why is this so hard to do, and are there any tips you have? Shoe horn maybe!?

Hats: Actually.. tuques, but I’m not sure what non-Canadians call them.. those winter wool hats. She is fine with a sun hat, but she wants to rip the tuque off before it’s even touched her head. It’s getting pretty cold, especially at night and I don’t want her to catch a cold. Any tips to keep it on her head/get her used to it?

Blankets: No matter what I do… after falling asleep, our daughter is facing the other end of the crib and ON all the blankets. If I try to move her she wakes up and won’t go back down. If I put a different blanket on her, within 5mins she’s on top of that one too… she moves too much in her sleep I guess. Should I just give up on blankets and dress her super warm like I am now, or is there a way to keep her under them?

        Thanks so much!

No suggestions for the hat, but for shoes, look for ones that have a velcro strap across the front, like Mary Janes-type shoes. That way you can see her foot go all the way it.
For the blanket, look for a Sleep Sack- they make them with leg holes now! Or just dress her really warm. Only recently has my daughter learned to keep a blanket on, and she’s almost 3.
