How big is the average baby blanket?

I want to make a baby blanket for my boss (she’s having a girl) and I was wondering how big I should plan on making it.
I always went for a larger size (around 36"x48" was my favorite), because they’d be usable as nap blankies for several years, assuming they didn’t wear out first. But that’s personal preference, and anything from about 30"x30" on up works fine.
30 x 30 is a good size . You can just make it an even 36 x 36 . it is just up to you and what you want to pattern .

well, im 5’3" and if I can hold a baby blanket with both my arms stretched out and have the blanket hang just above my feet, I think that’s a perfect size
