What is an easy way to make a baby blanket?
Crocheting is pretty easy, most people think it’s easier than knitting. Then you just need to buy some soft yarn ("baby yarn") and off you go!

go to http://www.youtube.com and type in how to make a baby blanket. They are sure to have a video of it there.

if you want to hand make it, go to fabric store (or fabric section of walmart) and get a book on blanket making. Me? I just get some fleece with baby prints on it & sew it on a machine. You can also get the baby blankets that are pre-quilted.

You can buy no-sew packages at Jo-Ann’s fabric stores. Go the the cutting table and ask them about no-sew blankets. They will direct you to lots of nice fleece fabrics and (if they’re nice) give you tips on making the fringe.
I’m a quilter – it’s not easy, so I wouldnt suggest it for a baby present if it’s your first time, but it’s a great creative process, and if you’re interested in making baby blankets, you can make some fantastic ones by quilting.

What materials are you looking to make it with? There are so many different types (materials) that you can make.
You can use minky fabric, sew two pieces together, wrong sides together and then sew a blanket binding to it.
Crochet, knit, quilt patchwork…the list is endless. You can provide more info and we can go from there.

easiest way I know to make a baby blanket is to take some fleece material and cut it to the size of blanket you want and surge the edges. A lap throw more or less. Works great.
Another way to make one without a sewing machine, is take two pieces of fleece fabric. Cut them both 3 inches larger than you want the end result to be, then cut 2inches deep and a half inch apart all the way around both pieces. Match the two pieces together and tie a knot using both peices which will put the two together, then keep tying knots all the way around until all the cuts have been used. There ya go a blanket without using a machine.

I agree with the no sew blankets. It takes NO TIME at all to make. Get two pieces of same size fabric. Fleece does work great. Maybe one with print and one solid color that matches. Place them evenly on top of each other. Cut the perimeter of both pieces of fabric on all four sides about 3/4 of an inch wide, 2-3 inches deep. Tie in a knot the top piece of cut fabric to the bottom. It makes little fringes. Cute and simple.
Reading my crappy directions probably just confused you, but as the above poster says, Jo-Ann fabrics will help you. Good Luck!
