* The Knit Stitch:
* Embroidery Tutorial: this’ll show you how to create any shape, letter or design (it’s actually 2 techniques in 1 video the chain stitch and the wrap stitch) You will need a crochet hook and an embroidery needle for this tutorial. You can find all these items at Michaels. Everything for this baby blanket can be bought at Michaels or a similar craft store in your area:
I used this embroidery technique as well (the backstitch) because I did not have a crochet hook at the time and needed something to give some extra bulk so my design would have that NY hat look. If you have a crochet hook DON’T watch this video, this is just if you’re roughing like I was with only an embroidery needle lol! You’ll still need to watch the embroidery video above as well though for the wrapping technique:
* Stockinette Stich! I sub to her (iknitwithcatfur), go ahead and sub as well. She’s slow on the comment reply bit but her vids are good. She gives tutorials on some fantastic patterns for real:
* Seed Stitch! (I sub to her as well. Go ahead and sub to her! I’m not getting paid for all these shout outs, I genuinely like these people
Honestly KnittingTipsbyJudy is one of if not THE best teachers on Youtube for knitting. She explains things in a fantastically simple way and the results are beautiful. She’s a legit celebrity knitter and has knitted for movies like “Grinch” with Jim Carey and “Waterworld” with Kevin Costner:
* … and just in case… Binding off. (Seriously this is like the most comprehensive knitting guide vid on youtube — coupled by its supplementary links and part 1) Lots of searching lol!:
Enjoy and happy knitting!

It could, but using …
It could, but using larger needles would mean less stitches and a chunkier yarn. Using larger needles would cause you to change the directions in order to achieve the same size blanket. Therefore using the same directions and stitches with 17 would make a much larger…and stretchier blanket.
hey you probably …
hey you probably said this in your vid and i missed it, but what color and brand yarn did you use. Im in a group called Blankets for Babies at my school and I would love to make a blanket using your patter. It’s simple, but looks nice.

Your video was very helpful! Just to get this straight, can you reaffirm I heard correctly?
Cast on 127 stitches.
Knit, pearl every other stitch for the 1st 10 rows.
Then, KPKPK first and last 5 stitches, but inbetween I do a full row of knitting, and the next row Purling, etc.
Do this until you want to add that indent, and then I don’t KPKPK the first and last 5 stitches, but I just knit ALL of those rows?
Continue as normal with first and last 5 stitches KPKPK, and every other row K,P.

Just add and start the next skein (roll) the same way you started the first. There’s nothing special to it, then weave in the ends later. See youtube on “How to join a ball of yarn” if you want to see an example.

One question…when you’re done with one roll of yarn how to you start the new roll?
Thank you!

Like 2-3 …
Like 2-3 months. Can’t remember, it took me a long time because I kept stopping. For any other person, it might take anywhere from 1 week (if you’re totally dedicated) to 1 month! I was just kinda slow with that. Remember, don’t let the blanket intimidate you — go for it!
Question How long …
Question How long did it take to make?
IDK. I got that …
IDK. I got that part off the internet. You can just eye ball it. It’s a baby blanket and doesn’t have to be any specific width, just whatever width feels good to you.
so, how WIDE is …
so, how WIDE is does the 127 cast on stitches make the blanket?
Ok, the 127 …
Ok, the 127 stitches are the width, not the length. You create the length based on how long you keep on knitting. The more skeins (and skein is just a fancy word for ball of yarn. We call them skeins because of the shape) you knit the longer the blanket will be. So the more you knit, the longer the blanket gets. The width is fixed at 127 stitches wide, that part never changes.
