I used this embroidery technique as well (the backstitch) because I did not have a crochet hook at the time and needed something to give some extra bulk so my design would have that NY hat look. If you have a crochet hook DON’T watch this video, this is just if you’re roughing like I was with only an embroidery needle lol! You’ll still need to watch the embroidery video above as well though for the wrapping technique:
